TP Link VR500v – WiFi Config
WiFi Configuration Instructions – TP Link VR500V (VDSL PPPoE)
This guide shows you how to change your WiFi settings on your VR500v router. The sections you will find in this guide are:
- Changing WiFi password for 2.4Ghz and/or 5Ghz channels
- Disabling/re-enabling WiFi channels
If you have reset your device before reading this guide click here to put the correct credentials into the router configuration screen.
1. Changing WiFi Password
Using your preferred web browser, connect to the router’s interface via http://192.168.1.1 – then enter your password. You should see the following screen:
Next, click on the Wireless tab on the left hand menu:
Then simply change the password(s) and hit save. Any devices connected to the router will be instantly and will require entering the new password to reconnect.
2. Enable/disable Wifi Channel(s)
To access these settings go to Wireless tab and select/deselect the tick box as shown below – then hit save:
If you are presented with a Login screen after you Reset (asking for the username/password) – the default is admin with password admin.
If you can’t access the default IP address (192.168.1.1) – it could have been changed from within the Admin options. To re-enable the default IP address you may have to reset the router to default settings using the Reset button located on the back of the device. You will need a pen or sharp-tipped object to press the embedded button.
If you find your internet connection is slowing down intermittently or is dropping out – try connecting to the router using an ethernet cable and run the following test: http://bberg-speedtest.ezi-web.com.au – this will rule out WiFi interference. Additionally this test will log the information with our monitoring service and we can then cross-check it against your account to gain further insight into your connection.
