Setup Instructions – TP Link W8950N (DHCP)
To begin configuring your TP-Link router you can either connect via Wifi or using an ethernet cable connected to the LAN port.
Open a browser and enter the address 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. The default username is admin with password admin.
This is the default IP address which may have been changed. If you are unable to connect to the router you may need to reset it to defaults.
To establish an internet connection, the WAN connection needs to be configured. To do this select ‘Quick Setup’ from the left menu.
Change the WAN type to “Enternet WAN” and enable “IPv6 for this service”.
Click the next button to continue.
On the next page you configure the type of WAN Link. Select “IPoE (Dynamic or Static over Ethernet)” for the WAN link type.
Leave the other setting at defaults of dynamic and obtain automatically. Click the next button to continue.
The “Wireless Configurations” page is where you enable/configure the routers Wifi interface.
From a default configuration all you need to do is change the “Wireless network name” to something you can identify your router by. Click the next button to continue.
The final step to the Quick setup wiazrd is to confirm the new configuration. Click the confirm button.
If you have connected an ethernet cable from the WAN/LAN4 socket on th router to your apartment wall socket your router will establish an internet connection shortly.
You router is now configured and internet access will be available. You can check the status of the internet conenction on the Device info menu option.
